The Paradox of Raising Consciousness

Einstein is credited with a quote that goes something like “You can’t solve a problem with the same thinking that created it”. The implication is that a different mindset or perspective is required to resolve the issue. It often takes a stroke of genius, or someone daring to dream to break out of a deadlock.

In our current way of seeing the world we seem to want certainty. Businesses for example, typically want to predict an outcome and then manage things to ensure it is achieved. Not many people are willing to invest time, energy and money unless they have a pretty good idea of what they will get back.

The problem with this approach is that without a new perspective, nothing really changes. We continue to look at life through the same lens, not daring or not able to consider something radically new. In my management consulting days, we contrasted ‘paving the cow path’ with ‘building a new road’. The underlying challenge was how bold was the client willing to be to resolve their problem.

If we look at national issues, the Economy, Politics and the NHS are mired in stuck thinking. Despite all the hollow rhetoric, nothing changes. If anything, things are getting worse as those in charge run out of ideas. Seems like we are watching an agonising ‘shuffling of deckchairs on the Titanic’.

I put it to you that the centre of gravity of our thinking is stuck in a world view (or level of consciousness) that is unwilling to step into a brave new world unless it knows what that new world will look like. This means we can’t really create a brave new world because we want to imagine it from our current perspective – not a new one.

I believe that the only way to create a brave new world is to take the risk of stepping into the unknown. The paradox of raising consciousness is that you can’t raise your consciousness until you are willing to do this. When you do take the risk, life will almost certainly look very different. New possibilities will arise that demand original thinking. You will fare well by sensing and intuiting what works and by having the ability to respond repeatedly when things change.

In other words, in our current world, really expanding your awareness requires you to relinquish ‘a predict and control mindset’ in favour of ‘sense and respond’ one. (this is an underlying principle of Frederic Laloux’s book – Reinventing Organisations)

This way of thinking will not go down well with anyone in Authority or the Corporate world of course. The risks would simply be unacceptable – and so we carry on!

The new Age world is far less constrained and offers humanity some interesting possibilities. There is much conjecture about an Ascension into a 5D world (a world operating at a much higher frequency or vibration than our current 3D one). Many of the expectations centre around creating a new compassionate world where war and suffering do not exist. I would love a world like this and yet I think that a 5D world would be so much more. I am relatively sure that we won’t really appreciate what it will be like until we get there.

For example, imagine a world that communicates primarily through telepathy. Complex communication would be instant and there would most likely be a high degree of transparency between our minds. In such a world, lying and cheating would be impossible. Mobile phones, books and the internet would be redundant. Government as we currently know it would be untenable – controlling people would be impossible. This may sound very idealistic, but just imagine what life would be like?

I suspect we are starting to get glimpses of a 5D world– at least those of us who are willing to open our minds to this way of being are. The internet could for example, be seen as a mechanical form of telepathy – a way of preparing us for a world where instant communication doesn’t rely on proximity.

There is plenty of information available about how to raise your vibration. There are lots of people offering courses and classes that can help. Folks who have progressed can share what they have found. What they describe can still only be understood though, through the way you see the world around you though.

The one thing these courses and teachers can’t do is give you the experience of raised consciousness. This you can only appreciate when you get there. – and who knows what you’ll find when you do.
